FAQ

What is a student association (SKN)?

If you are interested in a particular specialty in medicine, some might be organized in their own student clubs. An association meets up in regular intervals, about once a month, discusses current advancements in their specialties, learns about diseases and their management, sees interesting patients within the department and does scientific work. Scientific work can include research of your own, studies, writing articles for journals or conference, taking part in those conferences and really whatever you feel up to doing.  See a list of the ED student associations below.

You think there is potential for another student association?

Get busy! Anyone can open up their own SKN in their field of interest.

  1. Find a tutor in your department, that would like to supervise the circle.
  2. Paperwork. Contact Dagmara Szynalik. She is the responsible person in the student office at the student dorms and will help you set everything up from the legal perspective. dagmara.szynalik@umw.edu.pl
  3. Gather your students! Make your circle known, invite students and get started. As the president, you can initiate what you feel like students should learn beyond the university’s curriculum. This could be a workshop, simply going on duty with the doctors or doing research. It’s up to you!
What are my responsibilities as a member?

When you have become an official member, you should attend the meetings regularly and be invovled. For example, you can prepare a presentation or write an abstract for an upcoming conference. There are many ways to be involved and share your interest in your favorite specialty with others like you. This is a way to be submerged into a subject beyond our school’s curriculum.
Student associations are also a great way to meet students from other years and connect!
